Napoleon School Families – A survey has been emailed to each family to gather facts for Smart Restarting school on August 20, 2020. All families need to fill out the survey for each student in the family. We need this information by Thursday, July 23, by 5pm. Kindergarten packets are due by Friday, July 31st. You need to drop these packets off at school or mail them to the school so we can enroll your child into our Powerschool system. Last, we have a new school app. You can download this app from your app store. Along with the app, we have a new all call and text system. We will be running texts and calls for the next three days reminding you to do the survey. If you are not receiving calls and texts, please contact Richard Bjerklie, Richard.Bjerklie@napoleon.k12.nd.us We want to make sure we have the correct phone numbers in the system as this will be the system we use moving forward. If you want a number removed or added to your name, please let us know this information as well. Have a Great Tuesday!

No handshakes, hugs, etc. When the ceremony is over, the graduates will line up outside on the grass, about six feet from the sidewalk. NDHSAA Board votes to proceed with all fall sports and activities as scheduled July 16, 2020 11:00 am VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The North Dakota High School Activities Association (NDHSAA) Board of Directors, operating on ND Smart Restart guidance and ND Department of Public Instruction (DPI) K-12 Smart Restart guidelines, met Thursday, July 16 and unanimously voted to proceed with all fall sports and activities as scheduled. Opening dates for practice include: Boys Soccer: August 3 Football: August 10 Boys Tennis: August 10 Class A Girls Golf: August 10 Cross Country: August 10 Girls Swim/Dive: August 17 Volleyball: August 17 Student Congress: September 1 (1st Competition Date) School boards for member schools, along with their local public health units, will determine if its school(s) will sponsor sports and activities. NDHSAA staff and Board will continue to work closely with the North Dakota Department of Health, North Dakota DPI and the Governor’s Office as the 2020-21 academic year approaches. Guidelines for a return to competition will be shared with member schools late next week. “With member schools having the option to provide in-person education for students, the NDHSAA believes it is important those schools also have the option to return to physical activity and competition,” NDHSAA Executive Director Matt Fetsch said. “Everyone's health and safety is paramount in moving forward with activities and it will not come without disruption, however, providing these opportunities is essential to the physical and mental well-being of high school students.” “On behalf of the entire NDHSAA Board I’d like to thank the Return to Competition Committee for their work and guidance during this unprecedented time,” NDHSAA Board President Travis Jordan said. “The role that sports and activities play in the lives of our youth is extremely important. Our students need connection now more than ever and the decision today grants yet another vehicle for that to occur. It will be extremely important that we continue to monitor the information and guidance from the North Dakota Department of Health and the Governor’s office to ensure we continue to keep the health and safety of our student athletes, coaches, and advisors as a top priority.” Any plan, schedule, or procedure may be modified quickly to respond to current pandemic status. Further athletic and activity guidance will be reviewed by the Board of Directors at upcoming meetings. Once approved this information will be sent to member schools and posted on www.ndhsaanow.com. Updates will be provided as they become available. The NDHSAA Board of Directors and staff would like to thank Premier Partner Farmers Union Insurance, Supporting Sponsor North Dakota Department of Transportation Vision Zero, and all member school administrators, student participants and patrons for their continued patience during this time.

Napoleon Community – Here is the full post. Napoleon graduation will commence in the gymnasium on Sunday, July 26th, at 2:00pm. Doors will open at 1:30 pm. We will have chairs on the floor for families only. Each family will have 4 chairs. Everyone else will need to sit in the bleachers. We will have areas marked off where to sit as we will need to follow social distancing guidelines. We will also stream graduation on our Facebook page. More details to come on graduation by Friday, July 17th. Napoleon Public School now has an app. Please go to your app store and download it. It is called “Napoleon Public School”. It links right to our webpage and we will be using this app for all school events. We are hosting a meeting Monday, July 20th, at 6:30 pm for school re-entry. I would like to have 8-10 parents and a couple students as volunteers to be on this committee. It will consist of two school board members, administration, some teachers, parents and students. We have to remember to social distance so we can only have a limited number of people in a room at one time. If you do not want to be on the committee, but would like to add your input, please email Richard.Bjerklie@napoleon.k12.nd.us with your suggestions. The governor said we need to have two plans in place before we start up school. We are required to have a Health and Safety Plan and a Distance Learning Plan. This committee will start to work on organizing these plans on Monday night. We are currently looking for a 6th grade teacher. If you know of anyone that would be interested in applying, please have them contact the school. More information about Fall sports and Graduation will be shared on Friday, July 17.
